This little locksmith place is hidden from street view.
As you walk down 49th, be sure to peek into the hallway of the building to find them.
Anyway. I had some basic keys copied. 2.50 per key plus tax.
They were quick... I had my keys in under a minute...
Came to duplicate some keys and was told one couldn't be duplicated. At first my instinct was to ask if there is another locksmith around but the guy at the counter patiently explained that that key needs a card to go with it and suggested that I ask my landlord for another one. The other keys were done quickly.
Top notch! Nice clean, modern and uncluttered store, super fast at copying keys with reasonable prices. Everyone is very helpful - I was in and out in 10 minutes - they copied 7 keys, then sorted them out and attached them to key rings for me. They definitely know what they're doing.
I came in with a key to my apartment building that I had copied at a different hardware store. Immediately I was told it couldn't be copied and to speak to my landlord. 1. It could be copied because I had it copied before. 2. I don't have a landlord because I own my apartment, which apparently wasn't a good enough answer for them. After being talked down to for 5 minutes, I kindly asked if there was another locksmith in the area, whereupon the man behind the counter scowled "google it" to me. FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO GO!
My office had a lock that was sticking and VLC did a great job fixing it! The locksmith arrived exactly when the appointment time was scheduled, was professional, and finished the job in less than 20 minutes. Our door is working perfectly!
Best experience with any locksmith or key duplicator ever!
The staff was so friendly that they all deserve five stars. The price is right for key duplicating, also! I'll definitely be back.
Note: this locality is not easy to find if you don't look carefully; it's near the Nomura entrance; a hallway within that entire building.
Fast, easy, simple, polite, quality and low prices!
They said they are open 9am-6pm every day.
To find them, walk on the north side of 49th Street. If you are coming from 9th Avenue, walk past the salad place and make a left into the marble overhang outdoor area. On your left you will see a sign: "Locksmith." 5 minutes later, you are out with a copy of your key.
They also had various key accessories and safes. They have a couple of locksmiths there who were available to help. They were polite, professional and easygoing. Places like this deserve a good review.
Went in to get some keys cut and it was quick, simple and reasonably priced. Not a lot of chit chat but that's not what I wanted or needed either. Also, as a bonus the keys worked perfectly first time which is pretty rare!
Fast, easy service from friendly people. I am glad I found this place!
I had to call to find it, it's sort of tucked into a hallway, but I was helped by a really polite woman who even came out to find me!
I went in and only had to wait a few minutes to get keys made. I bought key rings to go with it and the guy cutting them even put them on my ring for me and it really saved my nails, so thank you!
The prices are fair, they have every key you can imagine and the service is really friendly. It's a great place to have near me!
I needed my locks changed the same day and while they were busy, they went out of their way to accomodate me into their schedule. They changed the upper and lower door locks and cleaned the work area afterwards. I had called around to a couple of different places and their prices are comparative with other companies.
Called them 15 minutes ago and Ed showed up changed the lock and gave me a new set of keys in minutes
I never imagined I'd be leaving a positive for review for ANY locksmith in NYC. But Irving was truly wonderful. He came to my apartment as scheduled and worked for a solid hour to fix not one but two of my shitty locks, one of which needed a new cylinder.
I've had problems with these locks forever, and this is the first time they actually seem to be fixed. The entire job cost $243, including tax. Not cheap, but less than I've paid locksmiths in the past who didn't repair the problem. And Irving was as nice as can be.
If you live in HK, these guys are the way to go.
