Had a key crisis on Wednesday and they came with within an hour and helped me get the right key so I wouldn't have an issue again. It was pricey but the peace of mind was definitely worth it.

Moved from LES to Brooklyn new house and had 4 doors to change locks including a deadbolt. Leah is fantastic on the phone (even picked up my call on the weekend) and explained my options. Joey, the technician, came out for a service call / evaluation the next business as scheduled (ON TIME) and was very professional walking through a few detailed options (including smart lock) with me. He came back and helped me change the locks in UNDER 10MIN TOTAL!!! Was just amazed how efficient and neat the job was. No hidden fee, everything was pre-quoted and no surprises. I'd recommend M&D to anyone who's looking for good locksmith.

After recieving several quotes, I decided to use M&D as Lina on the phone was extremely helpful and informative as I don't know much about locks or lock installation. I was able to get an appointment the next day and Joey came to do my installation and was very professional and willing to answer my questions, and give me advice on what lock I should go with. He was efficient, clean and friendly. I will be referring M&D and joey specifically to my friends going forward.

I had a broken lock and they came out within the hour to replace it. Joey did a very professional job and put in a high quality lock. I was able to pay by card and got an emailed receipt. Perfect!

After requesting several quotes from multiple places online and not receiving a response I called M&D Locks and Keys this afternoon. The employee that took my call was very professional, not only was I given a quote, I was able to have an immediate appt this evening. Joey came to do my installation, he was not only professional and willing to answer my questions, he was also very personable. He didn't even complain or be put off by the horrible parking conditions in my neighborhood! His work was fast, and installation work quality. He even offered to clean up!

Have now had these guys out twice for two different smart lock installs, punctual, professional, and really knowledgeable. Joey is great, gave me some great advice and was even able to quickly get a Schlage electronic lock into a European style thick door. Thanks!

I'm certainly not going to attempt to fix any lock issues myself because, hey, while youtube videos are helpful for some, I'm not a professional. Recently I'd been having doorknob and deadbolt lock issues and wasn't really sure of the root of the problem. So, based on all the positive reviews, I chose M&D. Glad I did too!
Joey arrived on time and had the lock and doorknob fixed within less than 10 minutes. A very simple fix that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I would definitely call them again in the future if I have any other lock issues.

ETA: M&D read this review and courteously asked for my side of the story. In turn I learned their side and am now raising my star count by one (in exchange for no $ or other compensation). My experience can't be made positive, but I think M&D acted in good faith. We have a nice well-functioning new lock and some insight into the locksmith business. Unree stars: ***
Lured to M&D by the good reviews, I'm disappointed. The locksmith arrived exactly when he said he would but I had to explain an aspect of the job twice. We needed something that I felt sure was easy but how can you argue with a "professional" who says ooh, could be complicated.
Installation took about 15 minutes for which we got charged a lot more than what I expected from my phone call where the person who when I asked how much answered said "$25 for coming out, then $75 and up depending on what you need." And up, you say? Up, up, up, up ... also a very different price for cash vs. credit card, which means M&D Locks and Keys probably doesn't like to pay sales tax AND eyeballs the customer to ask just a hair less than what would draw "Get lost, I don't really need you."
Ugh. Very prompt, and competent enough, but I don't recommend. Locksmithery is something for which people really need trustworthy online reviews. Yelp, not just M&D Locks and Keys, let us down on this one.

I've recently moved into a new apartment and called M&D to replace the lock. Leah contacted me and we scheduled a time for the same day. Later Joey arrived and started working on the lock. Apparently, the previous locksmith who put in the lock did a terrible job and even without any knowledge I could see there was a problem with the current lock on my door. Joey offered to replace the whole mechanism instead of the cylinder and seeing the current state of the lock I agreed. He then proceeded to replace the mechanism and put in a mul-t-lock cylinder. He explained every detail to me while he was working and even fixed a slight malfunction with the door knob. It cost me more than I expected but Joey did a great job.
Overall, I would recommend M&D to everyone in need. Great service!

I am renovating my apartment and replacing the old mortise lock set and doorknob was turning out to be a coordination nightmare. I wanted to replace it with a Baldwin lock, but they had a 4-5 week lead time for shipment of the product. I had purchased a lock from Home Depot that was available; it turns out I purchased the incorrect kind of lockset.
I called M&D Locks and Keys twice. The first time to remove an old deadbolt and replace it with a Schlage Sense deadbolt. Joey arrived and completed the work with quality, fast and at a reasonable price.
A couple weeks later, I called M&D to replace the old mortise lockset. Joey told me that I had the wrong kind of lock. Not wanting to waste the appointment - and also go another day without a doorknob on the apartment, Joey went to his vendor in Williamsburg, procured the right kind of mortise lockset for my door that matched my apartment aesthetic, installed it on the door and cleaned up the installation area. Because of my steel door, the installation took a bit of time, but Joey completed it and the lock looks great. Most importantly, Joey completed it on that day so that my contractors could fill in the leftover holes in the door, strip it and repaint it.
Thanks for the responsive, quality service as well as the advise regarding the proper locks to put on the door so that it is appropriately secure (he recommended having one deadbolt cylinder with a Mul-T-Lock because of the possibility of someone "bumping" a standard lock cylinder). I took his advice and sleep well.

M&D had great service from the start. The person answering the phone was the first of a handful of locksmiths that I called that would even discuss different lock types with me. I had done some research and wanted to ask questions about different products and figure out what was best for me. The first four places I called, the person on the phone had no knowledge about the products and refused to get me someone who could help until they sent someone out for an in-person estimate (for a $25 fee before I even knew if they had the products and expertise I needed). I wish I remember the name of the woman on the phone at M&D who answered all my questions and gave me a quote I could afford. She was fantastic. The day of the appointment Joey was very helpful. He explained the challenge of dealing with my old Brooklyn door that had been through tons of locks and had painted-over bolts blocking the installation. I grew very concerned at first because it sounded like things were about to get expensive. But Joey talked me through my options and found a different lock in the high-end security line I wanted that also fit with my budget and the ancient door. I felt good about the price and feel very secure with my new lock. Plus Joey didn't even blink when I told him he would have to work while movers carried stuff in past him. Recommend them, for sure. Side note: I wound up in the ER the original day of my move, and had to reschedule the lock change twice for health issues, and the company was completely understanding each time and gave me my first choice of rescheduling times.

Great service, highly recommended! I had a poorly installed bottom door knob and lock, which my building super did not want to fix, telling me that it was 'fine and safe'.
I wanted a second opinion, so I called M&D based on all the great online reviews. Joey came and assessed my door lock, and explained how UNSAFE it was and did a great job repairing it.
Great value and I now feel safe in my apartment.

I just moved in my apartment and the next day I called M&D. Sunday morning a wonderful woman answered the phone and scheduled me for an appointment that same day. Unfortunately, I can't remember the woman's name but she sent Joey to install my lock. He explained the different types of locks to me. He even informed me about the lock to the door was installed incorrectly. No wonder it's given me problems.
Joey was quick, professional and funny.
I would recommend to everyone!!

Called M&D locks because I was having a problem with a 100 year old lock on my townhouse in Brooklyn. The lock would no longer lock. After calling a few other places being told the doors would have to be replaced (100 year old iron doors) because the lock is not repairable or replaceable (no lock exists that would fit in the original iron door). Thank goodness for Joey. He was on time and very honest and professional. He was able to disassemble and repair the lock - onsite in less than 1 hour saving me thousands of dollars and headache. I am definitely going to use them again when I replace the rear doors of my house this summer and I highly recommend anyone wanting an honest and skilled lock technician call M&D first. Price was also very reasonable. The fee to just come out was 1/2 what most of the other places I called wanted.
