This review is strictly from a key copying standpoint. I needed a few keys copied they did it really quickly charged fair prices compared to everywhere else. If I need a key copied again I would come here.
These guys are saints, they came to my place while I was away since my housekeeper was locked out of the apartment., and fixed my lock , when I came back 2 month later I notice that lock was a little loose, I called them up and they came and fix it for no extra charge. Will definitely call them back.
Got locked out of our apartment. We called and were told that the service would be $95. We confirmed, just $95? No other charges? And we were told, "not unless it's some unusual kind of lock." The locksmith arrives, says the $95 is only the late night/weekend fee and that the whole thing (with new lock) will be, with tax $262.00. Cash only. There oughta be a law.
I guess some people figure taking advantage of someone else's misfortune is an opportunity you just can't pass up.
This locksmith made a copy of a key for me quickly and cheaply. I walked in and within 3 minutes I had the copy. I would highly recommend going here for your locksmith needs.
After many months of painful scrutinies, I finally became an owner of a co-op apartment. The first thing after closing, the broker advised me to change the locks. I have never done it so I was stressed about the another hassle.
I found Dial Locksmith online and tried to give them description of the locks over the phone but could not even distinguish what is a deadbolt and what is not. The technician on the phone suggested that I just sent him pictures of the locks. It was super easy.
The technician arrived half hour early, so when I texted him that I am already in the place, he rung the buzzer within a minute. He did an incredible job; he not only replaced both locks, but he also added some cover on ugly old holes in the door and replaced some metal thingie-things free of charge. He was done in an hour. He was very polite, nice and clean. Cleaned up after and organized my old locks into the new left-over boxes.
Total bill was about $415 + tax and I paid by credit card and I received the bill via email. Everything went very smoothly. If I ever need a locksmith again, I will be definitely calling them.
Saved the day. This was a transparent, straightforward and professional service, with friendliness being the cherry on top. I'm extremely pleased that I used Dial Locksmith because I was nervous of being taken advantage of and frazzled from being locked out of my apartment on an important day. Instead, I found this company based on good reviews and proximity, and Ben really killed it. He showed up promptly and opened the door super fast, you could tell he knew what he was doing. Beforehand, they were really great on the phone with me, which I approached doubly since the other locksmith companies had been gruff and refused to elaborate on anything or answer simple questions I had. He told me it would $125 to open the door, and $125 (I think) if he had to drill and replace the door had me. It ended up being $125, and honestly it was worth every penny to have this be done fast and simple (plus that seems to be the standard rate). I hope I don't have to call a locksmith again, but I would recommend this company to my friends! Thank you, Ben!
Getting locked out is such a pain but Dial Locksmith was awesome at getting me back in too my apartment. He ended up having to drill through my lock, but was able to install a new lock really quickly. Really nice and understanding. I hope I don't have to use them again, but if I do I'll definitely be calling them again!
Last week I arrived to visit my aunt in Upper West Side, problem was that she forgot to leave a key with the doorman. I decided to look for a locksmith online and came across Dial Locksmith. Few minutes after my call, the technician was at my door step. He was able to shim the door open and get me in within 5 minutes. I promised to give him a review for his great service, thank you Very much!!
Amazing service, Walked in to make two copies and was out in less than 5 minutes. Very kind man and great prices. Definitely recommend
Not sure why there are so many positive reviews...the prices they charge for drilling a hole through a deadbolt and replacing it are INSANE! $400 to drill hole in dead bolt and replace with a new standard deadbolt!!
I recently had an issue with my door knob falling off and needed to get into my apartment. It was 7:30 on a weeknight and I didn't have much options finding a place that was still open. I'll give them credit for promptness and friendliness but that's where it stops.
The guy came and assessed the door realizing that he would have to drill through deadbolt - he quotes me price $179. Seemed expensive but I just wanted to get in so I gave him go ahead. What he didn't tell me that it would be extra for a new lock until AFTER the deadbolt was ruined. Then he quotes me for a new "standard" lock that would cost $160. I basically had no choice but to agree otherwise I would have no lock on my door. When all was said and done it cost me nearly $400 just to drill through lock and have it replaced with a standard deadbolt that costs maybe $30 at hardware store.
By this time I was not happy about price and knew I was getting ripped off big time so today I did some investigation and called around to a few other places to get a quote and they told me $150 - $200.
BE ADVISED AND CALL SOMEONE ELSE IF YOU ARE LOCKED OUT OF APARTMENT!!!
Some other locksmith tried to rip me off, but they were honest and upfront about the cost. He got there quickly, was pleasant and professional, and did the job in about 5 seconds.
Top notch service.
They may have a page of "customer service" mantras displayed on their counter, but that's where it ends...
Just came home with two copies, and neither work.
Have to go back out in the rain and get them re-done.
One was an expensive MultiLock, the other a simpler door key.
If you are a locksmith this should be Page one /Chapter One info.
Instead, this is epic bulshit.
I needed to have a few keys cut for my university dorms , no one was able to make them beside Ely from dial . He was fast, efficient and charged me a really good price. I was really suprises from the big verity of stuff that they have at their store , cool place!
What can I say that haven't said yet , they are friendly , reliable and professional.
I own a brownstone not to far from their shop , and I've used them several times over a 10 year period . Ely is very honest and responsive , I can blindly trust him with l of my work.
I needed to have a key copied , so I hopped in this little locksmith shop on west 96 st. The employee Ely was super nice and friendly . He had my keys done in less than 2 min!! The keys work great I'm very pleased with the service . Thank you.
I have used Dial and recommended them over the years to grateful neighbors in all kinds of situations. I have never had anything but AMAZING service and reasonable quotes. These guys know what they're talking about and don't gouge you. Leon, the owner, is a patient, honest, kind man.
I'm a graduate student living off student loans, so when I arrived home from class to realize that I had forgotten my keys and my poor dog was whimpering to be let out, I called around to different locksmiths to see if I could get an affordable quote before I chose one. When I called Dial and asked how much it would cost to get me into my apartment, they told me $100. Seeing as that was about the same rate other places we were charging, I went with them because they were closest.
45 minutes later, the locksmith shows up and I verify with him that it will cost $100, as they told me over the phone. He responded that was $35 for the service call out there, and $95 to get in the apartment so in actuality, the cost was $130. Since he was already there, I saw no point in arguing, so I agreed to it. After drilling in my lock and reuniting me with my beloved and lonely dog, he asks me if I would like him to replace my lock... Confused, I ask him to clarify what he means. He then informs me that since he had to drill the lock, it is now broken, and it will cost me $155 to purchase and install a new lock on my door, bringing my grand total to $310 after tax!
Now THIS is the type of thing you mention to a person BEFORE you break out the lock on their door! Once the lock has already been destroyed, what are my options? To live and sleep in an unlocked apartment and sacrifice my personal safety?! Or to cough up whatever funds are demanded for the sake of maintaining my security? As a young woman, I begrudgingly opted for the latter, but not before questioning why he failed to mention that extra cost beforehand, when I was specifically asking him how much this was going to cost me. He informed me that it was because sometimes they don't have the locks that people need and he didn't want to offer what he didn't have. I'm sorry, but you're there, staring at my lock, you know if you have it with you or not.
It is extremely poor form to not be straightforward with a customer with what the overall cost of services will be, especially when they have asked directly and when their personal safety is on the line. To wait until after you have broken my lock to inform me that my anticipated cost is now more than double what you initially told me if I want to have a front door that locks is simply appalling. Perhaps next time someone asks for a price estimate, you could inform them of potential additional costs prior to putting them in a position in which these additions become personal safety necessities.
Tony was great. Had 2 deadbolts rekeyed. Took him about 30 min to do the work after he provided an accurate estimate of cost.
Nobody likes buying a new lock. It's a necessity, but you have to do it. That was on my mind when I called Dial Locksmith yesterday. This morning Leon came over and installed our new deadbolt. I can't be happier. Initially I was just going to get the jimmy-proof tumbler deadbolt, but for the extra money got the lockset with high security cylinder by Mult-T Lock. He also fixed our non-working second door lock, which had been jammed closed for more than 2 years. He got that working perfectly, so now we have 2 locks. All-in for the service call ($15) and installing the high-security lock ($249) we are pretty happy. Leon was really nice and there was no monkey shines. He's local, and I'll go to him again for keys.
My key broke off in the lock, but they were able to send over a guy post-haste! Instead of drilling the lock, Tony managed to extract the broken piece of key stuck in there and pick the lock, and the price was very reasonable for the work and effort he put in, and for how fast he worked. Also very friendly! Just be sure to have some cash on hand for at least part of the payment.
